Audiology Department
The Audiology Department, led by Audiologist Joan Chesick AuD, provides
evaluation and treatment of problems with hearing. Various types and brands of
hearing aids are available to meet each individual patient's hearing needs at
competitive pricing. Other forms of accessory amplification with
wireless technology are available for phone and TV amplification.
Joan
C. Chesick, A.uD., received a Bachelor of Science Degree in speech Pathology
from Louisiana State University in l980, followed by her Master of Science
Degree in Audiology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in l984.
She received her Doctor of Audiology Degree in 2003 from the Arizona School of
Health Science, a division of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr.
Chesick worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Asheville during
her internship and as a Clinical Audiologist at Thoms Rehabilitation Hospital
for seven years before beginning her employment with WNC Ear, Nose, Throat, Head
and Neck Surgeons in l993.
Dr Chesick is licensed by the State of North Carolina for both Audiology
and Hearing Aid Dispensing. She has received numerous hours of specialized
training and continuing education in digital hearing aid programming and
software. Dr. Chesick is a Fellow with the Academy for Doctors of
Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology. She is also a member of the
Audiological Resource Association and the North Carolina Speech, Language and
Hearing Association.
